One teenager getting cancer is rare. Two best friends getting diagnosed within weeks of one another is nearly impossible. That’s what happened to Service High School students Steve Vue and Mitchell Xayapraseuth. This project follows the boys for one year as they share the experience and begin recovery. After extensive cancer treatment, both boys learn what’s expected of them according to their families’ Hmong and Lao traditions. They’re asked to repay the spirits of their ancestors as they return to normal American teenage life.
