In December 2004, an earthquake and tsunami devastated Banda Aceh, Indonesia, leveling vast portions of the city and killing 130,000.  In the aftermath, armed forces from around the globe provided aid, including the 517th Airlift Squadron from Anchorage, Alaska. Their cargo planes flew round the clock to deliver food, water and medicine to Aceh and lift survivors from the nightmare.
